OFFICE SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Jane McCraw, Director of Employee Relations/Office Services
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

In her twenties, Jane’s great passion was civil rights. She wasn’t always able to make much of a living working in civil rights but she was lucky enough to find community-organizing work in uptown Harrisburg with the SURE Project. Jane also did housing testing for the HHRC to help uncover housing discrimination throughout the City. In her late twenties, she became interested in issues of homelessness and hunger and worked for PA Coalition for Food and Nutrition. Once she entered her thirties, she decided she needed to be more practical and make more money. To that end, Jane augmented her several years at IUP with paralegal studies and worked for attorneys in employment law. She looked for an entirely new field and found it when she was offered a position as the Director of the Harrisburg Riverboat Society. She loves promoting, organizing and managing special events and was able to do what she liked best when she was offered a job managing a brand new fine dining restaurant downtown (before restaurant row!). Jane thought she’d found her niche (and had) until she fell through a trap door onto concrete steps and seriously injured her back.

Jane’s back injury ended her career in the entertainment/restaurant field! After a year of healing (and turning forty), she took a job as an AA in Human Resources with the City of Harrisburg (the paralegal classes and work with the employment attorneys paid off after all). After two more years, and discovering a new passion, labor relations, Jane was promoted to a Labor Relations Officer. After 5 more years, and 60 credit hours of labor relations and employment law training at Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, she became the first Director of Labor Relations for the City. After four more years, her work with the City came to an abrupt end when her entire office (and many others) was abolished due to the budget crisis. Losing your job when you’ve recently entered your fifties is devastating stuff. Strangely, after all of that, she found herself in a place where she can use her favorite skills and background, the Center for Independent Living of Central PA, a place where she has become passionate about her work once again.

After school, he was attached to Attack Squadron 66 based out of NAS Cecil field. Steven spent the following four years traveling extensively in Europe. Upon return to the States, he resided in Florida for 10 years working in the service industry and then moved to the Delaware Shore until moving closer to family and taking a position with FedEx as a driver. In early 2006, shortly after signing on with JFC staffing, Steven was assigned to the Center for a temporary position, assembling furniture. Some things are just meant to be. He was offered a position and has been very happy with all of the wonderful staff at the Center.
