Give Back 2019

February 1- June 30, 2019

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 to support our Living Well Transport Service!

The Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP) created Living Well Transport Services (LWTS) to offer people with disabilities and older adults another option to travel in their community. LWTS has been in operation for a little over a year and is becoming a cornerstone.

We have two full time staff – Transportation Coordinator/Scheduler and Transportation Manager/Driver, three drivers and a fleet of three vehicles! The service is steadily growing because the need is so great!

LWTS is unique. LWTS is flexible.  LWTS provides :

  • accessible vehicles to transport individuals using wheelchairs, scooters or another mobility device.
  • friendly and personal service from reservation to arriving home.
  • no long wait time to be picked up or dropped off at the destination.
  • seven days a week service.
  • no restricted reasons for a ride.
  • drivers who are vetted and sensitive to people with disabilities and older adults.

During the 2018 Give Back campaign we raised $19,700. With those generous donations we created the “Discount Rider Program”. Based on the riders income, the program subsidizes rides for people who can not afford the program’s standard rate. It is based on the rider’s income and eligible riders can receive a 20% to 80% discount. The program will continue as long as we have the funds to support it. That is why Give Back 2019 is dedicated to Living Well Transport Services!

With your help, the CILCP can take our service to the next level. We will continue the Discount Rider Program, improve customer service, and operate more efficiently by investing in:

  • Scheduling software
  • Communication technology
  • LWTS Employee equipment

To meet our goal, the CILCP is participating in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community and we are planning a series of fundraising events leading to the walk on May 18, 2019.

LWTS provides more transportation choices, lessens isolation, and helps people with disabilities be active in their community. LWTS riders attend family birthday celebrations, go to grocery stores, attend dinner with friends, and more. For People With Disabilities, older adults, and riders using wheelchairs, LWTS is a key to independence!

We need your help to keep going! How can you can support this worthwhile service?

Hear what participants of LWTS have to say about the Discount Rider Program:

Josh, Camp Hill
I really am thankful for LWTS and the services they provide.  The drivers are caring, prompt and courteous.  Not only am I taken to and from work every day, but I was even able to arrange an outing to a Hershey Bears Game!  Thanks to LWTS I was able to get out with friends and have a great time.
Josh, Camp Hill

Don, HersheyLWTS allows me to travel independently and provides me with safe and reliable transportation. Travelling independently boosts my confidence and allows my wife to recharge her batteries! She knows I am safe and in competent hands.

The Discount Rider Program is a Win-Win—it allows me to participate more in the community.
Don, Hershey
