Summer weather is finally here, and the staff at the Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania could not be more excited for the months to come! We have numerous great initiatives planned for the season and are looking forward to continuing to provide programs and services to people with disabilities that will eliminate barriers to living well.
Living Well Transport Services is continuing to grow. We now offer transportation to people with disabilities and older adults in the region through three accessible vehicles. If you missed our press release announcing the purchase of a new, fully-accessible 15-passengar van, check it out here.
In addition, we have some exciting events coming up this month:
- A young adult group, entitled Y.A.C.C. (Young Adults Creating Change) has been created and is hosted every other Wednesday at either the CILCP or another location. Learn more here.
- On July 31, we will be hosting a self defense techniques training. Learn more here.
- And on July 26, we will be hosting a community photo shoot to capture pictures of real people with disabilities at City Island. Learn more here.
Our team looks forward to connecting with our consumers and stakeholders this summer, and we hope to see you at one of our events. Thank you, again, for your support.

A Final Update on the Highmark Walk Fundraiser
The CILCP is pleased to announce we have successfully raised $19,680 through the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community to reduce rider fees for people with disabilities and older adults through Living Well Transport Services.
Although the walk fundraiser is over, the CILCP is always accepting donations toward Living Well Transport Services. Learn more about the program here.
The team at the Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania would like to thank all the individuals and organizations who have supported Living Well Transport Services through the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community fundraiser. Our executive leadership is working to develop strategies to optimize the effectiveness of the dollars raised. We’ll keep you updated on the lives changed as a result of your generosity!
