The CILCP is pleased to announce that a $300,000 grant has been secured through the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to support its Home Modification and Access Program in Juniata, Dauphin and Mifflin Counties.

The grant, which is administered by the DCED, is part of the new state funding program referred to as Keystone Communities.  According to a press release issued last month by Governor Tom Wolf’s Office, the funding available through Keystone Communities is designed to support local initiatives that grow and stabilize neighborhoods and communities, encourage the creation of partnerships between the public and private sectors in the community, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.

“The $300,000 grant will have a significant impact on individuals who qualify for home modifications.” Janetta Green, Acting CEO, said.  “The state funding allows CILCP to reach underserved communities in the service area and to reach individuals who do not have a financial means to fund needed home modifications.”

CILCP’s Home Modification and Access Program provides quality home modifications to qualifying individuals with diverse disabilities.  Modifications increase a person’s independence and helps prevent hospitalization or nursing home entry by making homes safe and accessible.

According to the press release, since January 2015, the Wolf Administration approved more than $22 million through the Keystone Communities program to fund 131 projects statewide.

“This administration is committed to making our communities better places to live and do business,” Governor Wolf said.  “From restoring community cornerstones to beautifying downtowns to helping people with disabilities make crucial accessibility improvements to their homes, these projects will have profound impacts for local residents and business owners.”
